1Password vs Bitwarden
Bitwarden is open source, self-hostable, and starts at $0.83 per month, the lowest of any tool tracked here. 1Password has no free plan but offers Travel Mode, a more polished desktop app, and Watchtower breach monitoring on every tier. Both support passkeys, built-in 2FA, and end-to-end encryption. The choice comes down to price and self-hosting (Bitwarden) versus apps and extras (1Password).
Pricing
Bitwarden's paid individual plan is $0.83 per month billed annually, and its free plan already syncs unlimited passwords across unlimited devices. 1Password starts at $2.99 per month with no free plan, only a 14-day trial. Family plans land closer together: $3.33 against $4.99.

Security and features
Both tools use end-to-end encryption and support passkeys and built-in 2FA code generation. Bitwarden publishes its clients as open source and allows self-hosting, which 1Password does not. 1Password's Travel Mode temporarily removes selected vaults from devices, and Watchtower flags reused or breached passwords across all plans.
